4 Ways to Fake It ‘Till You Make It

Fake It 'Till You Make It Like a #Boss

So, the other day I was informed that people actually think that I have my life together and with that I laughed a little. While I personally don’t feel that I have my life together, I feel like I can fake it. I try to have my life together, like I really try! If you saw my planner, you might understand.

My basic advice is to “Fake It Until You Make It”!

So here is how I think you can fake it ’till you make it!

  1. Write Things Down  //  This I find to be super important. The last thing you need is to have a time written down for a meeting and not remember who you are meeting or where you are meeting them. It is better to have too much information than not enough. It’s good for classes because you may need those notes one day. In general, write your ideas down, they may (or may not) come in handy. Some of your most random thoughts are your best.
  2. Use Your Planner  //  Planners, Planners, Planners. At least have your due dates for projects and papers written and your tests marked. You will need to know these things. Put those meetings in there. Write your events you know about weeks in advance. Now the hard part, actually look at it and USE IT! (This also goes along with planning ahead).
  3. Get Dressed  //  Yes, I understand you don’t walk around naked all day, but if you wear sweats and sweatshirts everyday of your life, I am talking to you. Yes, there are okay sometimes, like those days where you just really can’t “life”, but normally, wear leggings or jeans and put on something other than a t-shirt and maybe a pair of boots or something. Wear something comfortable and be you, but look half-way decent, like you didn’t just role out of bed.
  4. Get Your Sh*t Done  //  Actually do your work. It is one thing to know it is due, but to actually do it, to the best of your ability is amazing. This is why you are at school isn’t it? To learn and to get good grades. If you do your work, I promise you’ll learn something or at least get a good grade. Be productive when you’re doing nothing, don’t just watch everyones snapchat story a hundred times.

That is really all I got right now. These are what I do to try and have my life together even when I don’t. I hope this can help you all really “Fake It ‘Till You Make It”.

Please tell, how do you have/get your life together?

  • Hi! I loved your article it really hit close to home, with being in college and majoring in International Business a lot of people think oh that’s easy you got everything down packed and your on track while I’m silently thinking in my head… if only these people knew how much I freak out everyday. The planner step is what I’m mostly working on right now. I write everything down but have a problem when it comes to using it which I am slowly pushing myself make sure I use it daily.

    • I’m glad that you find this useful! And actually getting the planner part down pact is hard. I find some weeks I need to look at it multiple times a day and others just a glance here and there, but really getting down to using it every day will make life so much easier, especially if you are actually writing in it!
